Its probably the brake pads squeaking against the rotors. If it stops when applying the rear brake then that is most likely the problem. About the best way to repair it is to replace the pads. Or live with it. You also could try removing the pads and sanding the pad surface to get rid of the glazing. But if they got oil on them then replacing is the best route to take.

Another possibility is a loose rear sprocket. Check those 5 bolts and make sure they are TIGHT. If even one is loose then at minimum you need all new bolts and maybe even a new sprocket if the holes are oblonged.

Check the rubber exhaust mount. They get dry and will squeak like crazy.

i dont think its the brakes because it still does it when i apply them. i will have to look at the exhaust mounts , the only other thing i can think of is the belt but is new , if it is the exhaust wouldnt it also do it when idleing it only does it when driving?

The new belt may be rubbing on the sides of the rear pulley guide. I suggested some HD Poly-Oil a while back for a fellow that had the same symptoms. Applied on the SIDES of the belt, it will take care of the squeaking if that is the cause. You can tell if it is by, put rear wheel off ground, bike in neutral, move rear wheel around, listen. My FLHT has been doing the squeak since about 2006 when I went on a dusty dirt road for about 10 miles. I put the Poly-Oil on it, it goes away until all the oil is gone, then I put more oil. BTW, it really is not an "oil" it has the consistency of cottage cheese, but is clear.

The rubbers for the rear exhaust are about 2.00.Mine seems to need them every 15,000 or so.
