I got a recall notice from Jake Wilson for my Bell Mag-8 XXL helmet. This is a voluntary recall from Bell for the Mag-8 sizes XL, XXL with date codes Sept 2006 thru March 2010. It says " certain Mag-8 model helmets may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218" If your helmet meets both criteria call Bell @ 866-892-6059 or email at dealerwarranty@eastonbellsports.com and they will give you instructions on how to exchange your helmet for a replacement. Bummer I like mine...

 

Got one of those also, what's the problem? Been debating whether to use that or my Bell Shorty helmet on ride out to sturgis. Thought the Mag 8 would be better if I hit rain, maybe I'll just p/u a faceshield for the shorty and toss in my saddlebag.

 

Called Bell today,, not much of a wait on the phone. Maybe one full minute. Going to replace mine, it will be October before they have the matte black. In the short term they will be sending a return label for the old helmet. I guess I'll need to break out the winter helmet a little early and it's only 100 out today.
