Default FLHR question

I'm a new HD owner (bought it used) and as I was trying to get familiar with the battery compartment I noticed this square frame with nothing in it, can someone enlighten me?

Dealer told me ABS could NOT be added, if not on the bike from the factory ... and cruise & alarm could be added ...

but there still may be a way, with enough $
