Default First ride in awhile

It has been 7 weeks since I went down...Got taken out by an old lady stopping for critter and tar snakes...Was like being on Ice trying to stop, back end slid out, held the brake till it stopped and had just enough momentum to dump me over on my side. Helmet did its job, sounded like a racquetball thumping on the pavement and my right glove ripped open and no damage to the hand. My knee did not fair so well, had some hairline fractures in the Tibia and Femur where they impacted each other and blew out my ACL. Bones are healed and I am doing well except when I do stuff that could hurt the knee I wear a brace. Probably going to have the ACL replaced in September.

I actually picked the bike up and rode it home (1/2 mile from the house) not realizing how bad my knee was. Guess the adrenalin and shock had me covered for a bit.

Got the bike back together before I was ready to ride. The bike only had a scuff on the batwing, saddlebag lid, saddlebag latch, tourpak latch along with the engine and saddlebag guards. They did their job well and protected the bike and me. Local Painter did a great job and looks like new. If fact the repaired saddlebag looked so good with the 3 coats of clear, I had him touch up and clear the other bag. I replaced all the other parts myself. Since the insurance paid me labor, I had a little extra to add some things I have been waiting too. Finally decided to change the floor board inserts to the streamliner collection. Never been fond of the swept design, but since they came out on the SG Trike, for the D shaped boards I just got the part numbers and ordered them separately. Decided to add the slotted brake lever while I was at it :-) (What the wife doesn't know won't hurt her) (Pictures below)

Took her out for about an hour today and all I can say is I needed that so bad. Didn't realize how much 2 wheel withdrawal I was going through. What was really frustrating is I went down a week before I was supposed to go away on a 1500 mile bike trip. I at least am planning a good ride in August, before I get the knee fixed in Sept.

Again, would just like to thank this Forum, because before it, I probably would have dropped the bike off and said fix it and instead I did all the work (other than the actual paint and plastic work) myself. Saved a bunch of money that way and have the satisfaction of knowing it was done properly.

Ride Safe

You wouldn't happen to still have the part number for the D-shaped streamliner passenger inserts, would you ?

Yeah, one time about 20 some years ago I sold my bike for financial reasons, about a year latter I was feel'in like something was'nt right and started getting really " bumed "( that is what you got back in those days before they had " clinical depression " ). Then one day while sitting in the back yard I heard a Harley go'in thru the gears off in the distance.....

Sure they are:

83566-10 Rider Board Insert
83565-10 Passenger Board Insert

Need 2 of each...They only list for $36.00 each and you can get them from Zanotti (took about a week to order) they are $23.56 each with $14.80 for shipping a grand total of $109.04 for all 4 board inserts....Beats the other ones at almost $100 a set.

Plus I love the way they look, nice and clean...

Good work and glad your back on the bike again. I went down once from being rear ended. Every painted part on the bike was damaged or scratched. I bought a custom paint set from a local guy, changed all the parts myself, added true duels and a bunch of other chrome and still put some cash in my pocket. Not saying having a wreck is good but you can come out ahead if you do the work yourself. Hope your knee gets better.
