Code 56
Threw a Code 56 after a long ride this weekend. This code came up once before about a year ago and I started using a battery tender and the code went away. Still using the battery tender. According to the SM it could be the cam sensor or timing, sprocket, timing chain or low battery voltage. The bike is a 2000 EGC with 11K and it runs flawlessly.
Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

2000 is M and M fuel injection.
I have a 98 with M and M but it is evo powered.
You have a twin cam not an evo so i know a little less.
On my evo with the same Fuel injection as you, any bad start will cause that code.
Any back fire at start-up, burp etc.
If battery was low at start it would cause the same problem..again a bad start.
It did it a lot when the cam sensor was melting away.
Very easy to see the problem once i looked at the cam sensor plate.
Went away when i replaced the sensor.
I have a power commander and it seems to require the sensor to be in good health or the bike will turn over multiple times but not catch and start.
New sensor and it catches at the touch of the start button.
The battery needs to be perfect also so may consider having it tested.
Anything over 3.5 to 4 years is old for me and starts to cause problems even with the tender connected.
Alarms eat away
The evo i have also has a crank sensor...the crank sensor could give similar code.
