Went on group ride yesterday to Philly for a cheesesteak. 17 bikes in all from Maryland and just outside Philly on I-95, big traffic jam and we all screech to a halt.
Outside temp about 95-96 degrees, stock 09 Ultra with about 8800 miles running AMSOIL.
Gas is 30% Exxon w/o ethenal and 70% WaWa with ethenal. Creeping along, stop/go and I start pinging. Other riders around me heard it also. No one else is pinging, just me.
Got to Tony Lukes and filled tank with a about a gal + of Exxon and let cool.
No problem getting out of town or on way home.
Should I have bore scope of cylinder walls? Was it just the crappy gas? One guy with oil cooler gauge said he was at 300 degrees. Comments please
There is a refinery, pretty sure it's Sunoco somewhere in that area of the country and every time I'm over there I have trouble with pinging. The fuel starts showing up about mid-PA and on down into Maryland. It's the only gas I have trouble with.
