Default Adding chrome front forks??

It may be a dumb question but what needs to be added to chrome out the front forks? Do you just need the Lower Fork Sliders or do you have to also replace the chrome accents for the upper fork legs and chrome Outer Fairing Skirt? The Outer Fairing Skirt looks like pretty good chrome but i'm not to sure about the chrome accents for the upper fork legs, they just do not look like the same quality as the rest of the chrome. The front of my bike is getting to be an eye sore to me so i'm going to start to get everything ready so i can make the change. The kit is $450 but if all i need to change is the Lower Fork Sliders then the $300 is would be better in my book. And i'm still up in the air about leaving the chrome Outer Fairing Skirt and then using the black Lower Fork Sliders and black accents for the upper fork legs. Need some imput here.

The stock covers are polished stainless, not chrome. So yes, you have to buy the chrome replacements to go along with the chrome forks.

2 new forks seals, bottle of fork oil, chrome forks, and chrome upper covers............and a couple of hours of time if doing it yourself.

You can get the Chrome lowers and cow bells for around 300 from Chicago Harley, Lake Shore, or Zanottis. (20% off, No tax)
You would keep your lower fairing.

You can get black powder coated forks and cow bells on Ebay for around 140 bucks. A black lower will cost around 50-80 depending on where you get it. I always just bought the HD one from Chicago HD.

Then you will need two bottles of fork juice (around 10 bucks).
If your forks are new, I would run the same bushings and seals but they are only a few bucks from HD.

I've done a ton of these for myself and for family and friends. Around 15 times I believe. I did three sets in one day last month. New record for me... Do a search and you'll find a bunch of tips and tricks. It's not hard work but is time consuming.

If you lived in Charleston I'd do it for you. It's kinda fun.

And... either go all black or all chrome. Black on your bike would rock.

you can get a black upper fairing skirt if you're going black, just happened to have those and set of black cowbells laying on the bench in the garage. Can't decide to go black or chrome myself, even considered mixing the two(black upper fairing/cowbells w/chrome lowers like CVO SG) The chrome front end kit has additional parts(axle covers/drain screws ect) that add up to more $ than the kit if purchased individually. May have the black parts for sale soon as I'm leaning towards the all chrome now after seeing an all black one the other day with some miles on them. Think the chrome will hold up better to the elements than the black in the long run, especially with the miles and roads I ride.

I know this would require a little more down time but have you thought of getting the stock forks chromed. I saved a ton of money by taking off the forks lowers, switch housings, and hand controls and having them chromed. I did buy the Harley chrome cowbells because those don't have the weld marks on them. I also saved all the labor cost by doing it myself. It's very easy. I'd do the chrome front if I were you.

In the 2010 catalog Harley now offers a "kit". I just did it on my front end, very nice. Kit includeds lowers, uppers, drain kit, axle bolt kit, spacers, caps, pretty much everything except oil and seals.
