While making a left hand turn from a dead stop, when I whip the rig around at a speed that is close to breaking the rear tire loose, the engine dies and if I remember right it shows a code ELP? I have to turn the ing. to off and the back on to restart the bike, can be a little dishearting in traffic............lol.
I don't find a code ELP in my manual, Could the code be TIP? If so it is because the bank angle sensor thinks the bike has tipped over. I think it should have been removed when the sidecar was installed.
I have an 07 EGS and just recently, while on a trip to the Grand Canyon, when I would turn my handlebars to the left my engine would cut off. I could straighten the handlebars and it would crank right back up. At first I thought it was the kill switch because I had just changed the handlebars and I thought that I may have pinched a wire during the process. But that wasn't it. So I took the outer fairing and the fairing cap off and moved the handlebars to the left and I watched the wires going in to the back of the ignition switch and I could see that the plug would come out a little and when it did the bike would shut off. I removed the switch and while holding it out, I plugged and unplugged the wires with ease. The tang that holds the plug in wouldn't let it clip in and stay. I tried bending the tang up to make it hold but it ending up breaking so I had to buy another one. With the new switch, when I pushed the plug in there was a distinctive click and it held the wires in. No problem now with turning the handlebars to the left. May not be the same thing you're experiencing, but who knows.

I agree I think I remember seeing this in the manual somewhere. I will see if I can find it and send you the link.
There is something in the book about the Bank Angle Sensor and how to program it for a sidecar. I am not to sure that is your problem though, seems there are a few DTC's that will set if it is not working. Did you have any codes at all?
