Speaking as someone who was recently new here, I did a lot of searching, I mean a lot. I also found a lot of good info in my searches, but I also liked the fact that people asked questions that I already read about, because there are new people coming on this site every day and some of them, even though new on the site, have lots of experience and can offer some insights that could be interesting and important to people, like me. Most of these people are not going to search and then reply to a thread that is months or years old, so the only way to get their opinions on the subject is to have the subject brought up again in a newer thread.
Of course I also don't mind people saying to search for it, because they should just to get the info that the other folks probably won't post again because they already said it once or a hundred times.
Personally, I am grateful to those people that mention that a search would find some info, and then post a link to a similar thread showing they are not only letting you know about the search function, but also willing to help.

Did not post a link for the guy but gave him my $0.02 and then suggested the search feature. Why the search? Because on his new-to-him subject he can pull up years of discussion that his thread will most likely only scratch the surface of.
