Yeah, that's what got my attention in the first place. There's a video somewhere on their website demonstrating the extent of adjustments...
Seems like you can set them up to be almost like a mini-ape or pull back a few inches or anything in between. I've got 'em adjusted to pull back a bit. My seat moved me back a few inches so I was reaching a bit for the stock bars. I also wanted something to get my hands up and out of my lap.

Yes - I imagine they're designed that way because the pivot points for adjustment would pinch the wires... Personally it doesn't bother me cause the bars are black. Not sure how chrome would look...
