I came across a pretty good deal on a 2004, low mileage, essentially stock Ultra and I was wondering if there were any common problems or issues with this year and model.
KBB says $13,970 with average miles. I think I can get this one with 18,000 miles on it, and it looks essentially brand new, for about $11,000. Any and all info/opinions appreciated.

Am sure you will get some more and better answers from ones that own one .. But have a Riding Buddy that owns one and has 70K on it and never had any problems and I would have heard if he had..
I'll be keeping my '05 forever! I think the only thing you will need to do, down the road, will be the SE Cam Plate with oil pump and cams if you want. There's always a big debate over gear cams or chain around here. If your crank runout is within spec, you can put in gear cams. If it isn't, then you can't. This isn't a big job, but is a weak link and should be watched - down the road. 18k is nothing on this motor, sounds like a great deal.

For that price, it's all good! But yes, the cam chain tensioners are a ticking time bomb...or not....some get lucky and have very little wear. I just pulled mine at 29k miles and they were in BAD shape. I put in the hydraulic cam plate kit with Andrews conversion cams and am VERRRRY glad I did. Performance is amazing and no worries from the cam chest anymore.
I got my bike for the same price, one year newer, but with higher miles and as a stock police bike. You'll get the full dresser treatment straight away, whereas I had to add a tour pack, pillion seat and radio to get it into standard dresser configuration.
