OK, tomorrow I'm putting a set of 14" Hill Country Customs apes on my 2010 Ultra. The bars came with a "kit" that includes new brake line and clutch along with the extensions for the electronics. I'm pretty good with a wrench and have a service manual.
My question is: have any of you done this yourself and how big of a job should I expect it to be. Will I need any special tools? The package with the electronic extensions talks about a removal tool but it looks like a paper clip will work just the same. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I just did a bar change on a road king 2 nights ago.. Just go slow, take your time and you should be fine. Obviously the ulta is going to take a bit more work then a RK, but I did mine in about 10 hours worth of work. I didnt use the extension kit, I cut and soldier all my wire extensions, that alone took me 2 and a half hours.
Good luck to you, PM me if you run into a problem.
yep, it is a paperclip. A couple of them actually is better because they bend when pushing into the connector. It takes a long time but have fun with it.
Thanks for the input. I thought it looked like a paper clip would work. Oh, I'll have fun with it working in my garage with only a fan in 100 degree temps. Can't wait!
