I just put on Wild Ones 612 Outlawz last week. I know that I have a shark and not a batwing.
The hardest part IMO is not running the wires thru the bar (although that certainly can be a pain) It is disassembling and reassembling the connectors. There are several little tricks to doing it. Until you figure them out it is almost impossible. Once you figure them out it is easy and you say "why didn't I try it this way the first time?"
All that said there are lots of pictorials on the INTERNET (and this forum) showing you how to do step by step. It took me 8 to 10 hours (with 4 trips to Lowe's). If I did it again I would expect 5 -6 hours.
If your are at all reasonably handy you should be able to do it.
The whole job is a PITA if you're doing it for the first time. You learn some tricks doing it that would save you time the next go around. For instance, took me an hour between removing the ignition AND re-installing it. I can do it in five minutes now. Lengthening the wires is tedious. I have the smooth bend bars from HCC. Didn't have much trouble pulling the wires through.
Just did a set of Wild 1 14's on my Ultra. Also new bushings, brake & clutch cables, etc.. I'd describe it more as tedious than hard. Ended up soldering extensions on the TGS instead of using the Barnett extension I purchased. Also had the benefit of having Dawg on speed dial for any questions (thank God!). Just do it man....I know my bike so much better now. Oh yeah, a service manual is a must so grab one if you don't already have one.
Thanks for the replys..looks like it just a pain in general.. i will hold off til the winter so i can do the inner fairing at the same time...do have the manuel already though.holla
