just an update, Jake Wilson sent me a new tire and dyna beads, paid for shipping of the old tire back to them and said Avon warrantied it out for them, I couldn't ask for anything more and am glad as I love the tires, they look good and stick like glue
Guess I'm in the minority here...got the Venom's and never had a problem.
Same here...no problems.
I bought a 2002 Fat Boy in 2005 and customized it...I put Avon tires on it in 2006...it's 2010 and I still have the same set on the bike with no issues. Granted I have only put 8k on the bike as it is bar hopper.
I had Venom's on mine before this last change. I got great milage (arount 12K on the rear) out of them and I thought they did well in the rain too. I have Dunlops on there now because of a situation last year but I would/will buy another set.
I've owned Harleys since the 70s and used Avons throughout and Venoms since they were introduced. They seem to be in the process of replacing Venoms with Cobras. I have Venoms on my Glide and a pal just bought Cobras for his Sporty.
Whenever you change tyre brand, check the recommended pressures. Avon usually call for higher pressures than stock tyres, certainly with Venoms.
