I have the the Rush 1.75 baffles they are not much quiter than the 2.25, have a strange sound, lot of high pitch noise and no rumble.

ORIGINAL: sligarn5

My two cents: I just lucked out and bought a pair of Wild Pig slip-ons from a guy on this forum and replaced my stock exhaust with them. They are used, but not very much and I have to say that I couldn't be happier. He made me a pretty good deal, but I would easily buy them again brand new (about $200 on ebay). The original owner removed the fiberglass from around the baffles and replaced it with sheet metal, which gives it a deep, throaty sound that is not at all obnoxious. Don't get me wrong, I do love a crazy loud bike, but I rode about 250 miles today and had no ringing in my ears.

In sum, I'd say that if you are not looking to spend a lot of money on the sound, Wild Pigs will give you that Harley rumble without taking a Harley bite out of your wallet.
Glad my WP's found a good home sligarn. Regarding slip-on's, I don't think WP's can be beat. Best bang for the buck, hands down.
BTW: Here's the link for the True Dual kit from fullsac http://www.fullsac.com/products_exhaust.htm

RUSH 2.5"

Don't waste your time with the lower diameters like I did. 2.5" makes a bagger sound like a Harley.

Those 2" Rush mufflers pretty much sound like the B&E Smooth bores! I went on rush's site and listened to the sounds of each one.

I personally don't like my bagger to sound real loud like a Hot Rod or Race Bike. I just want a nice low Harley rumble sound. It's like seeing a big beutifual Cadillac, but having big ole loud dual exhaust sound coming from it. The 2 just don't mix. Just my 2 cents worth.

Here is the best advice that no one gave me. Be patient and don't rush your decision. Go to a rally or a HD event at your local and hear the wide variety of pipes. After you hear the pipes ask questions. Then you can make an informed decission. I was timid to ask questions and didn't go listen pipes.
Very good advice. When listening and comparing be sure to note whether the bike has the stock head pipes or true duals, it will affect how the bike sounds. My SE II's sure sound different with the V&H Dresser Duals than it did with the stock system, I don't like it. Wild Pigs will be here today, we'll see how those sound.

I agree regarding the Samsons. They were already installed at the dealer on my '05 Ultra -- part of the dealership's attempt to "customize" the bike before it left the floor. In the big open showroom, the Samsons sounded nice. But they are too thin, more mid-range sound than I want, and intrusive at highway speeds. I, too, and considering either the V & H Ovals (slip ons) or the new Rinehart slip ons. Wanting to hear both of them next to each other....

bob53 I have V&H true duals with the rush mufflers and the 2.5" baffle I think they sound great, You can pull the packing out around the baffels and they sound even better, They have a deep mellow tone when cruising but when you crank the throttle they rumble good.
