09 SG Windshield Question
OK, I know there are many threads on this topic but I wanted to try to get some more specific advice. I am 6'3 and currently have the 6.5 KW on my SG. It looks great but as many have posted the buffeting is terrible especially when I am wearing my helmet.
I was riding yesterday and my glasses were bouncing up and down on my head and decided I have to find a new shield. I am not a fan of a straight windshield so I am looking for something with a little style yet good aerodynamics. I know I will have to go taller than 6.5 but I am looking for recommendations from those in the 6'2 to 6'4 range. No discrimination intended to others but a couple of inches can really make a difference. No need to respond to that last comment!

I am also 6'3" runninng a Windvest 10" smoke recurve, been on almost 25K miles in all types of weather, no buffeting it throws the turbulance just over the top of my helmet. Very satisfied

I use a clearview 9.5" light tint and it works well for me. I have a 09 SG with a corbin dual touring seat and am 6'2" with a 34" inseam. One thing that also helped a lot with the buffeting was adding the lower fairing wings that are adjustable from the ultra. I have also used the longride 10" ultra medium tint and it is the same height as the clearview and is a little wider at the top but they function the same IMHO. The quality on the longride was only fair but the clearview was great again IMO. I think they both look pretty good on the bikes. The stock 4" HD shield looks great but is useless. Good Luck
Best compromise of looks and function I've found is the Clearview 8" recurve. I'm about 6' sitting on a corbin solo, and ride in a nice quiet pocket of air. I can put my hand up above my helmet and feel the wind. If I was 6'2", I'd probably want the 9.5.

Besides getting the right height windshield you might want to try the Fork Baffle and the Side Deflectors.
The chrome kind that goes on the forks look terrible to me but some people say they work.
What I do is take my hand and follow the wind to its source. On mine it's coming from the bottom of the fairing where the side fairing and inner fairing meet.

My favorite "everyday" shield (of the over a dozen that I have to choose from - but that's for another thread) is my 10" Long Ride recurve. Stylistically, I prefer the 'lower shoulder' of the 9" -- But the difference between the two is pretty substantial as far as the wind dynamic is concerned...

Just as a matter of reference, I'm 6'0 and use the 8" light tint LRS. I find that it's perfect for me. Not even a hint of buffeting. I'm thinking that the 9.5" would fit you well.

I'm 6'5 with a 10.5" Clearview recurve. I've also got a C&C squareback seat which moves me down a little and back a few inches - helps to get into the pocket. The 10.5" is tall enough to throw the air over my helmet. I still get a little buffeting, but nothing like the glasses-bouncing teeth chattering that used to happen at any speed over 50mph.

i'm using the 10" long ride shield on the recommendation of matt, the owner of the company. he took the time to talk with me prior to me ordering it. i'm 6' 4" tall, although probably an inch of shrinkage with age, and the 10" long ride shield works great. i can take my left hand and put it up to the top of my head while wearing a helmet and the windstream is about an inch or two above the top of my helmet. it's quite a pleasant still air pocket that the shield provides. that's been my experience anyway. anything beats that 4" belt of a windshield that comes stock on the streetglides. i also really like the plastic that's used in the long ride shields. i've not had any scratches or dings after using it for a year and a half, but if i get a minor scratch, it can be easily polished out. can't do that with the hard coated shields. you can also use windex or other glass cleaner with ammonia if you prefer, it won't harm the type of plexiglass stuff they use. i got the medium gray tint and i can duck down behind it if it starts raining and see through it just fine, even at night. for me it was a great choice. good luck on whatever you choose. i'm glad i found the right one the first time. cheaper that way, ya know?
