Just called my HD dealer and they haven't got this months copy of the TP yet.
It's the March 2012 issue. My local dealer(s) usually have the March issue by the 21st of the previous month. Will have the April issue by around the 21st of March.
The April story promises to name brands.
I have a 2010 ultra and at 26K the bearing and race went south. Terible noise is the first sign and then vibration. My brother has 2010 heritage and had same thing at the same mileage. I have been told that Harley changed the bearing in 07 and it is a poor design. Cost me $335 to have it fixed. Harley will not admit to the problem.
Harley did post a service bulletin in 09 stating that the 07-09 six speeds omitted a clip behind the inner race and bearin that often, when torquing the clutch basket, the race went in too far, thus causing the bearing to not ride on the race. The service bulletin called for replacement of the main shaft transmission and provided a replacement kit including new mains shaft bearings and gaskets. I bought the extra ride service warranty in 07 which expired in June, 24,2012. Brought my bragger to a Harley repair shop who got me fixed but had to wait for now 5 weeks 07/04/12 and have not yet received the parts they said were shipped to the dealer.

Reason: Found service bulletin, spell check
I have an 08 Ultra Classic double roller bearing went out at 85,000 and again at 120,000. I change all fluids every 3,000 miles. Does anyone know a replacement bearing that works better than the double roll harley bearing part # 8967?
I have a 08 ultra classic, HD bearing part # 8967 went out at 85,000 and again at 120,000. I change all fluids every 3,000 miles. Does anyone know of a sealed bearing replacement for the HD double rolled bearing? I do not want this problem again because of a bad bearing or engineering design.

What oil brand/weight have you been using when changing trans fluid over the past years?

my friend's 08 flhtcu has had the primary shaft bearing replaced twice by the time he got to 33,000 miles. I always thought he was lugging the engine too much in 6th gear (he uses 6th gear too much in my opinion). My '08 flhtc is at 33,000 miles also, and no issues.
Lugging definitly will tear things up. 33k on my 07 FLHTC and no problems so far. The owners manual says to keep RPM's over 2k, and I always run 2200 to 2800, and use SYN3.
