Traded my 02 ElectraGlide Classic for an 07 Ultra. No comparison...the 07 Ultra is much hotter. The pipes on the 02 EG never got blued in 34,000 miles. The pipes on the 07 were starting to blue before I got it home from the dealer. I'd like to cool this thing down somehow.

Just pick up my new 07 Ultra and my lady is already complaining about the heat. She asked me " do you know what burns my a**"? I said no what? She says your new bike.....[:@] We gotta do something about that. anyone had success with oilcoolers, the fan accessory, or Cool Thighs? I also have the transmission 5th gear issue but thats another forum.
This is my first post so I hope I followed the correct protocol.

the Iron Pony is riding outta here......

Coolers will help,fans just cook one leg more than the other.Adding more fuel and freeing up exhaust is the answer.

The problem is the bikes are running leanerthan crap for the good ole epa [:'(], just like has been stated, you'll need to get a fuel controller and richen that baby up to cool it down a bit.

Bingo- my dealer just told em this yesterday.

My 01 RG is getting 50 mpg and seems to run awful hot, thing is it runs strong, wouldn`t it be kinda doggy if it was running lean.
Usually ya have a bad pinging problem if lean and restricted exhaust and mine doesn`t ping.
So how do ya know it`s a lean condition that`s causing the heat, hard to read plugs nowdays with the gas we burn. Also will the dealer check it and richen it up if needed and how much would that cost.

On a stocker the dealer is limited so far.Riching your bike up will cool it,others have proved this on 06 models.Your gas mileage is what it is because of the lean condition.I bet your plugs are nowhere near dark tan,and yes todays gas doesnt help.

Anyone having a problem with 07 Ultra 96ci getting very hot for rider and passanger. Only 600 miles;
Would have been the same question regardless of what year, its summer, its a big air cooled V-twin, and let me guess, you are getting hot while stoped or in traffic. Its normal, red pipes at the head, yep normal too, you can do a few things to help, free up the air and exhaust and richen the fuel mixture but harleys get hot, but so do, road stars and other air cooled bikes. Its just nature of the beast.
Not trying to be argumentive but i disagree, my 73 shovel head never got that hot, had a side car on it for a while and used to ride in hot weather stop and go in town and it never threw the heat like these TC`s
I`d like to hear all the reasons these engines run so hot other than a lean condition which would contribute to the heat, man these things have a greater cooling area than any other harley, the oil pan hangs down in the wind and even has ribs on it to diapate heat.
I don`t get it????

If its an 07,just wait a month or so.If older it all depends on how far you want to take your bike,Simple upgrades such as exhaust,then Id say go will dealers sert.

Mines a 01, it has EFI, and screaming eagle exhaust, it runs pretty darn good but hot.
I`ll ask them about it next time i`m by the dealer, they seem like some pretty good boys maybe they can help, and thanks for yours.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
