I'm just gonna hang here and watch the posts about the heat. Then maybe eventually you'll get around to looking at the product I provide.

I installed rush slip on mufflers, SE air cleaner and the SERT right after having my 1k service done and switching to synthetic oil. According to my overpriced digital dipstick (what a joke), on the same route, same speed, same weather, my oil temp went from 240-260F tp 195-215F. I really couldn't beleive the difference. That is with a canned map because I did the install myself. I plan on having in dyno tuned next week.

Zoood,

I think I met you in Daytona and have your product and yes they work fine!! However, this heat issue is not "the Nature of the Beast" as the dealer and some others else want to call it. The bike runs EXTREMELY hot. I ride with the original poster and I am the one that asked him to post his question here on the board and most are telling him what I have said:
1. Its running way too lean to meet the 07 deadlines for emmisions by the EPA.
2. He needs a fuel controller and after market exhaust.
3. He needs to remove the leg farings (which we did just last night)

But his bike runs hot ALL the time. His wife was so red last Tuesday night after we rode down to the Villages (about 35 miles) she was beet red and about to pass out (seriously). So your product will not help with "This" issue although McNamee IS going to get them at Biketoberfest he told me!!

The pipes are browing out all the way back to the mufflers. I have an 05 I bought one year ago this month and I have a little over 10,000 miles on it and his exhaust is way bluer/browner than mine and his only has about 600 miles on it.

My take is Harley just did what they do best and that is turned lemons (meeting EPA standards by 2007) into Lemonade (changing to closed loop fuel system and 96ci and 6 speed which has no more power or torque than my 05 Ultra) but making it so lean that it is horribly misserable to ride. I think with a little time and the things others are saying to do like the Fuel Controller and exhaust it will be a great ride. Just my 2 cents worth

Has anybody used exhaust heat wrap to control the heat on these models? Seems I read this somewhere in this forum but could not find it. I will be adding the PCIII this week with slipons and air cleaner but if it is still glowing red what do you do?

I went from a 2000 Road King with a stage 1 upgrade and Screaming Eagle pipes to a 2007 Road King. I haven't done any upgrades to the 2007 yet and it definitely runs hotter but has not caused me any problems. I just got back from a 4000 mile trip to the east coast and it was hot at stop lights etc. but didn't bother me on the road and got much better mileage than my old bike on freeways at 75 - 80 mph.

Hoping free flowing pipes and better fuel management will take care of it. Still undecided on pipes and fuel controller. ---Have a '07 FLHT Standard and in the same boat ! First computer controlled injected H/D I've owned, all the earlier ones were carb. ...looks like even more big bucks to be spent in the near future ...[sm=smiley19.gif]

Hello:

I met a fellow this weekend that swears by a dealer in Sandusky, OH called Roeders HD. He told me that they have played around with a couple of '07's and have gotten the heat down to comparable levels of a '06. Their recipe is:

1. Sreaming Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) or I would imagine a PCIII with Dyno Tune.
2. Kerker 2 into 1 pipes.
3. High performance cams (Not sure of the type but I would imagine that they are selling the SE Cams).

They told him that with this setup the bikewill make 92 HP and 80+ lbs or Torque. Total cost for them to do it $2,500

FYI...

Mike
