Default PC-V firmware update, really needed?

I'll be shooting a different map to my PC-V soon and was just wondering if I needed to update the firmware on it? I believe my current version is 1.0.3.3. The updated version is 1.4.0, but is it really needed? What is the difference? Reason for asking is because I've read a few posts here stating problems with the firmware update. They needed to update the firmware a few times for it to take.

Who knows, I might HAVE to update it if I try to shoot a map.

Unless you plan on using the LCD-200 display there is no reason to update your firmware to 1.4.0
