Hook the computer up to the pcv. Bring the map up on the software and click the send button. Simple.

Just make sure you key is on and the run button is on. This way when you hook up your pc to the bike with the cables it will recongnize the pcv.

Not necessary with a PCV, just the PC III.

You do not have to have the bikes power on to download a map to the PCV.

You need to open the software without the PCV plugged into the usb. Safer this way. Go to the Open Map button on left and it will pull up a list of maps. See where the drop down window at the top says the maps are stored. If you got the PCV from fuel moto the map for your setup will be in this list. If you didn't have them put the map in when you bought the PCV and they are emailing you a map, then you need to put the file they sent you in this map folder. Then you can hook the PCV to the laptop and open the map they sent you, make sure it is the right one after opening it, then hit the send map and it will be done. Then if not already done hook it to bike. After it is on bike just plug the usb to the computer, then start the software and it will open the map that is in the PCV so you can verify the correct map is installed. That is all there is to it. My default map file location is in Program files (x86)/Power Commander 5/Maps. I have Windows 7.

PCV gets its power from the USB via the computer. No need to have the bike on.
