Default Need some help how do I remove a compression release???

Hello all I need some help I have a compression release that is sticking I want to remove it to clean it with some carb cleaner but I can't figure out how to remove the darn thing. It looks like a 1/2 deep well is the socket but I can't get it over the not sure if i am calling it by the proper name but the round part of the release that moves when you close them?? Any help would be greatful.

I don't remove mine to clean them, so I can't directly answer your question -- I didn't want to break the pressure seal. I just spray some WD-40 around the black push button (use little tube) and manually cycle them a few times. Wipe up the excess and you should be good to go. This procedure has been working for me for about 20K miles, and I do it every 6-7K miles (when they first start to show sticking conditions in my case).

i use the same procedure with my manual compression releases. i found that if i use only the front compression release, it's the cylinder that is read for timing, and start it when i turn on the key rather than allowing the electrical system to determine that all light bulbs are functioning it starts easier too. i use either wd-40 but prefer using the power blaster, also known as pb with the yellow top. it's a penetrating oil and works great.

A 1/2 in, deep well, 12 pt socket works on mine.
