Default Do you know what EITMS is?

Ive heard that,.
By reversing the throttle - pushing it up- you can shut one cylinder down when running hot or idling while stll to cool the bike down.

Has anyone heard if this before? First I've heard of it.

Does 2010 StreetGlide comes with it?

It says "Vehicles are delivered from factory with EITMS disabled",but we can enable it.

Why does it comes disabled?...i dont get it..
If this works to cool down the engine and it goes auto in some cases...why would
anyone want to use it in disable mode?

The EITMS system doesn't actually shut the rear cylinder down; it causes 70% less fuel to be delivered to the cylinder so that one cylinder runs a little cooler in a high temperature situation, such as being stuck in stop and go traffic on a very hot day.

It also cuts the spark so what fuel is going is isn't getting burned.. I know when mine kicks in, there is a funny exhaust smell that seems like unburned gas.

If you go to HD's site and look at any 2011 touring bike, go to the "key features" then comfort and you can see an image of EITMS working. It has been available since at least 2008. I think the Softails have it too, but the rider can not enable/disable the system like they can on a touring bike.

Because, if it came enabled, there would be a whole bunch of threads asking why MOCO is forcing this technology on them and then a whole bunch more threads on how to disable it.

The 2011's definitely have it - it is on the HD site under Comfort in the bike description. I think the Softails have had it since at least 2009 though, but the dealer has to activate it. On the touring bikes, the throttle is by wire, not cable, so HD made it so the owner could enable/disable the system by rolling off the throttle with the bike off and ignition on.

Well I didn't know what it is either, so read all about it here! It stands for "Engine Idle Temperature Management System" and is available from 2007 on touring models.
