bought my 08 road king a month ago tomorrow from the local Harley dealer. just tried this feature out and it evidently is not activated or just plain don't work at all. probably have to pull a second mortgage to have it activated.
I've had mine turned on since 2009 when I got my FLHRC. It can make a diff, but I've learned your takeoffs are smoother if you blip the throttle before disengaging the clutch.

I think previously to 2009, the dealer had to activate it. Beginning on 2009, the touring bikes have a drive-by-wire system, so the throttle is nothing but a joystick which can do various things, not just twist a wire.
My '13 FLT has it....stop at a long traffic light....97 degree ambient temp.......within a minute....your exhaust sounds like "Burga-chuffa-burga-chuffa...burga-chuffa.....and the vibration in your handlebars doubles. Just sit there and sweat. Seen some Cops, turn their bikes off at a red light.
I just bought a 2014 street glide special and the dealer told me the cruse control has to be turned on to use the eitms and that in turning on the cruse would void my factory warranty so I haven't had a chance to use it yet but thanks to all who have posted here it should make my first time using it easier thanks to all
Run don't walk away from that dealer.
a.)cruise does not need to be on for eitms to be enabled/disabled.
b.)you can turn cruise on or off all day and not void your warranty. we are spose to not run at same rpm for the first 500 miles but that doesn't mean you can't flip on the cruise for a minute to rest your right hand.
Serious, find a new dealer. Next he will tell you that you need new blinker fluid at 89.00 per quart.
Now to anger everyone: It is obvious the MOCO is wasting considerable money printing those owner's manuals as so few ever read them. Between this and the security fobs, they could probably print a one page manual and cover everything else. This does not apply to those having purchased used machines which did not come with a manual. Try to find one, it is full of good stuff. In most places in the world, it rains once in a while when you would rather be riding. Try reading the manual, you might learn something.
