Default 2017 Slim Stumbles when hot

Was in backed up traffic which is a favorite for newer Harleys. It starts to cut out like it is on one cylinder and you get moving and it goes away. What gives??

Parade mode - I don't know crap about it, so google it, or better yet, somebody who can explain - please do so.

You have the turn off the cylinder deactivation (EITMS) by rolling the throttle forward and holding for a few seconds.

It's normal when it gets that hot. It shuts down to one cylinder to keep cool when it gets over a certain temp. I've been stuck in traffic, but it hasn't kicked in. I usually get rolling before it gets that hot.

Check your owners manual for "EITMS", it can be deactivated. Some say it is to protect the engine from overheating, some say it is for rider comfort to keep the back cylinder / header pipe from frying your leg. My '18 FXLR actually hesitates when rolling the throttle on after it kicks in at a stop light. That ain't right and I consider it a safety issue, I deactivated it for now and will have the dealer look into it at the 1K service.

I keep my EITMS active. And, if I'm at a traffic light or something similar where it's a brief stop and it kicks in, I'll just twist the throttle a bit to get it out of that mode. Here's a Youtube video that explains it:
