Wait for it ....Wait for it........ PLEDGE! Yes it works great for the inner fairing. My bike sits out in the hot So Cal sun all day long while I am at work and the pledge has restored my inner fairing back to the original black that it was before. Another benefit is the dust doesn't collect on it like it did with other products.
BTW my bike is an 03
+1 on Pledge. I use it quite a bit, looks real nice and its just like having an air freshener in the car. When I am too lazy to walk up to the third floor to dig through the wife's stuff for Pledge, I use the Turtle Wax Ice Spray Detailer, it works wonders also.
My inner panel turns white. I use harley davidson black leather cleaner paste. I wash the bike then rub leather cleaner in and wipe off slightly. Works for me Tim
A friend of mine who lives down in Georgia gave me a can of a product called "Pig Spit". It is absolutely amazing at getting things back to black. Puts on a great black look with just a medium "shine" to it.
Great stuff!!
I just bought and 05 Electra Glide and noticed a few days later that the inner fairing was faded right in front of the mirrors. I called the dealer to get some paint, only to find out that it's primmered at the factory. I asked my son,who used to detail cars about. He used a generic wet tire shine from Advanced Auto Parts. He applied it with a tire sponge, a couple of swipes, and a month later, its still looks like factory. Tire Shine $4.99.
I love coming to this site to find all my questions answered....seems we all have the same problem with the inner fairing fading. I thought that maybe I had done something while washing and polishing, but I see it's a common thing. My bike sat in the hot sun while at Rolling Thunder this year and it came home pretty faided.
Thanks for all the options....think I will try these first before spending the $$$ to have it painted.
Don't know about the other stuff on this thread but my EG Classic faded above the mirrors and one day when I had the outer fairing off, I took some Kraft paper & masking tape and taped off overspray areas and just dusted the top area of the inner fairing where it had faded with some Plasticoat bumper black paint. It matched the rest of the inner fairing perfectly and lasted till I sold the bike which was over 2 years.
I wipe a little Armor-All on once a month or so and seems to work fine. Sposed to block sunlight but I don't know about that. I've used it on my car and truck dashes for years and never had a problem.
I've searched some & found some people saying Mother's Back To Black works great,
while others say it's a waste of money. Surely there are other ways to fix this problem.
I've used ArmorAll type products with regularity and it still faded.I just don't want to
paint it.
yep. back to black available at your local pepboys
