and the next question is what is the best thing to put on the inner fairing other than painting it to help protect it from fading out over the years from sun and sitting out.
I've searched some & found some people saying Mother's Back To Black works great,
while others say it's a waste of money. Surely there are other ways to fix this problem.
I've used ArmorAll type products with regularity and it still faded.I just don't want to
paint it.
YEP, Mother's Back to Black. My brother-in-law has an
'08 RG that the inner fairing had some spots that were
so sun bleached out that they were turning white. He has
tried and used regularly for a litle over a month and it is
all black again and looks really great. It took several times
repeating like every other day but it worked for sure.
Mothers Back to Black workd for me on the 08 EGS took a couple applications but did the job if don't want to paint it .. But on the ultra good a great deal on a Inner Fairing that had been canceled at the Dealer.. Got it 1/2 price, installed it on mine and looks sweet ..
This won't bring yours back - but I've used a product called Vinylex on my car dashboards and they really do look great after years in the sun. I've only had a fairing bike since February, but I'm using it here too. This product is formulated with DH-60 UV protection. My bottle is a few years old, so not sure if they have bumped up the UV protection even more by now. It is relatively low sheen as well.
Aerospace 303! Best stuff I used, and it lasted at least 3 months before it needed another Application. Although they say reapply often for best results.
It's an acrylic based product that lasts way longer then silicone based stuff.
And yes - it will bring it back from fading.
I eventually painted it and ended all the crap though!
