Default Bike with flaring

I'm fixing to be it the market for a good used bike.I haven't road a street bike for about 20 years but i've road dirt bikes and 4 wheelers most of my life.My first order of business is to take the MSF classes and then start looking for a bike.

I already know the I want a Street Glide but never rode a bike with fairing on it. How different is it with a bike without fairing. And so you know the last bike I owned was a 84 Honda V65 Magna, so its been awhile.

I think you mean a fairing. I don't think riding is all that much different than riding without. There is a minor difference in handling; but, not enough to worry about. The big difference is that you as the rider get hit with a lot less wind and don't fatigue as quickly with the fairing. Yes the front end is a little heavier with the fairing; but you really don't notice much difference in handling than a bike with a non-fairing. The fairing is pretty areodynamically designed.

Like Cheese head says you get hit with a lot less wind and don't fatigue as quickly with the fairing. A windshield also has the same effect but the batwing fairing also keep the wind off your hands and from blowing up you sleeves (good thing when it is cold).
The windshield on the SG is too short, many people change it to a larger shield.

Some guys complain about wind buffeting especially with helmets. This is not the straight line wind in your face feeling, it can be severe and violent (like getting beat with pillows of air from all directions). There are ways of correcting it if you have that problem.

The other difference is the radio, I never thought I wanted one but I really enjoy tunes when I ride.

I have been riding bikes since I was a kid. I never even had a windshield on a bike till
I got a Heritage in 04. I got used to the shield in about 5 minutes. Last year I moved up
to an Ultra, what a difference a fairing makes. Both my wife and I are so much more comfortable behind the fairing. Took a little getting used to at low speed though. The stereo is another big plus

Sorry about the spelling, shows you how much a newb I am.

Thanks for the replies, sounds good. I think the SG is the best looking bike made and can't wait to get one. I'm wanting something comfortable for when the wife rides after I get some experience. I've rode people before but its been a long time ago.
