Default Not Loud Enough...

I have a set of Rush Slip-ons on my 03 RKC and they are just not as loud as I would like them to be. I am not looking for crazy loud, just louder than they are. They sounded good when I was cruising the BRP in June I guess because of the sound bouncing off the mountains, but I live in the flatlands of the Easten Shore of MD... I am not in the position to buy new pipes at this time so is there anything I can do to get more sound out of them without sacrificing power?

Thanks
Joe

Get a hold of FuelMoto on this Forum, I think they will tell you what you need if you want to change baffles.

A cheap and easy way to make them louder is to pull out the baffles, take off the fiberglass wrapping and reinstall. If too loud you can repack and adjust to your liking.

If your bike is EFI I can only suggest what has been mentioned. I have 4" Bassanni's and removed the baffles altogether and have what I think a HD should sound like but I have a carb. BTW, I lived in OC for 8 years. I have however heard of people plugging one side of their pipes and getting the sound and performance they wanted.

I had 2" baffles and they were to quiet so I pulled them and cut them in half that made the sound have to much ring. I then ordered 2" 1/2" baffles and now it sounds like it should. However mine is a 96" with stage one.

I took my 2.5 baffles out, removed the packing and put the baffles in backwards. Sounds good to me and I can hear the tunes just fine. Tried it with no baffles and it was too loud.

Thank you for the advice. Mine is EFI with stage 1. So pulling the baffles will not have a negative power result?

Thanks
Joe

I had Big City Thunder baffles in my Vance & Hines Big Shots before I traded the Lowrider. I had the same problem as you, but the Big City baffles took care of it. Granted, this was a Lowrider, but it was fuel injected, increased my power (I had it dyno tuned), and I plan on running them on my '11 RG.

You can buy different size baffles for your Rush pipes. I think they go from 1.5 - 2.5 inch.
