I don't think anyone said the increased noise was detrimental, or "bad", just irritating. You must be easily amused.

I was putting 50w dino oil in my bikes long before synthetic oil was ever thought of. I gave the synthetic oil a shot, didn't care for it, and went back to something that's been working for me for over 40 years. Doesn't seem too complicated an issue to me.

I'm not sure why anyone would find that amusing either, but hey, whatever floats yer boat.......

I don't mind paying $16 a quart for redline, well maybe I do, but that's not the determining factor. I want a happy motor. I worry about the high temps in the summer here in Florida that's why I'm using syn oil now. Sometimes I think I should switch to Diesel oil since my motor sounds like ford truck. I find it hard to believe that's it good for a motor to have that much top end noise. The next oil change I'm going to try Dino just to see if it makes much difference. When I first got my 09 it's was very quit, and I remember thinking what a difference. then after a few thousand miles the top end noise was back. I not sure if it was the break in or switching to syn oil after the first 1k service. I don't get the loud noise when starting, it's a loud top end noise all the time, like noisy lifters

I pretty much always find the posts on this forum amusing otherwise I wouldn't bother to read them.

All my Harleys have been noisy. And then I changed the pipes and made them noisier. It's a motorcycle for crying out loud.

Oh, and I'm running Syn3 now. I understand it's from Venezuela.

I was using syn 3 for about 20k. Engine was noisy all the time. Decided to try the HD dino oil at the 20k change. Much quieter now at start up and when hot.

I also changed my primary from syn to dino. Clultch is must smoother when engaging.
