Correct me if I am wrong, but noise in an engine, as in clattering/ticking, etc, comes from metal hitting metal. I understand engines make noise, but when clattering and ticking gets louder, to me that signals something bad. I could be wrong, but I'd rather not find out the hard way.
my mercedes benz manuel calls for mobile 1 0-50 synthetic oil and says to change it every 10 to 16 k wow so im wondering if when i change it ,which is every fall around september sence ive only driven it 6k can I run it in my bike till for another year? and add some of that motorkote stuff aswell? vs dyno oil
Well, this red beast runs great with the following: M-1(3 quarts) Lucas Stabilizer(1/2 quart) and K&P Oil Filter. Good oil pressure, Good oil flow, minimal noise in the top in and she does not use a drop of oil between changes!

On the other side of the coin, my decade old Twin Cam still runs great using nothing but dino oil and a black HD oil filter, has 80k miles on it and doesn't need a drop added between changes either.
Run Mobil V-twin synthetic in both bikes. I put roller rockers with needle bearings on the rocker arm shafts in the White Lightning and it's as quiet as a sewing machine. And this motor runs hot in the desert here. Same oil in the twin cam and noisy top end. Had room in crankcase for 1/2 Qt. Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer and noticable reduction in mechanical noise. Lucas recommeds 25% Lucas Oil stabilizer In HD motors, so next oil change will use full quart in motor.
