Just came back from a 7,500 mi trip and Yellowstone for the third time. Don't miss the upper/ lower falls, awesome! If you have the time Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons are something to behold. Have a safe and enjoyable trip.
Just watch out for those two prison escapees, their supposed to be in that area.......
Well this AM they are warning the Mounties they think the two escapees are in or trying to sneak into BC Canada. Where is Tommy Lee Jones when we need him?
You should be OK........I think the escapees are moving around as fast as possible, by the time we hear where they were last seen they have moved on further.
I haven't done Yellowstone on bike yet (but have driven in the car). Sounds like a great time (wish it wasn't so damn far from the northeast). Ride safe and enjoy your time.
I did this trip the last weekend of June (1984) IT WAS GREAT! Dress to the WILD weather changes. It snowed on me that trip and the first week of September a year ago (happened to be in a cage with the wife that trip). I am sure you will NEVER forget that trip. The better half and I are looking forward to taking some time off of work, shipping the bike to the mainland, and trying again (next summer?). Have a great time out there. It is definelty one reason that we can say, America is an awesome place!
My daughter and I just got back from a 3,950 mile trip that included Yellowstone and all the other roads and towns you mention. We had a great time in the park. There is a lot of road construction in the area so be ready for some 1/2 hour waits and gravel. The gravel was nice and packed down so not a problem but very sloppy in the rain. Go down to Jackson and try white water rafting, takes about three hours and was a blast!! Have a great time.
Just got back from there Sunday...good trip but only complaint was the 4-5 miles of gravel on the North side. They were wetting it down so it was like riding in the mud.
If you're going to Cody, have the Prime Rib Buffet at the Irma Hotel. GREAT!! Also, don't miss the shoot out in the street right next to the Hotel at around 5-6pm. It's cool too. Great riding through that area, and they've already caught one of the fugitives, so they'll probably have the other by the time you get there. Bear Tooth and Red Lodge are great too, but if you've got a little extra time the Going to the Sun Highway at Glacier Nat'l Park is well worth the effort. It's a really nice ride. Make sure you've got high quality rain gear, we've been getting pummeled lately, and so has Yellowstone.
