Another vote for the HD rainsuits. Good quality, look good, and stay dry... Expect to pay $$$ But well worth the money to me

HD pack in the hood rain suite. Not as good as the GorTex, but packs down small enough to carry on the bike at all times. Quality has been great.

The HD GorTex gear had been great for us although it does take up some space in the bags.

try the J & P cycles Brand of Rain Gear, folds up into its own pocket, not pricey compared to HD of any type and has kept us dry for three long trips now. In fact they are in the garage right now, airing out from our ride home from yesterday...You will find them at jpcycles.com, this company is also good for tons and tons of aftermarket parts at great prices....they are based in Anamosa, IA and Daytona, FL. They have a tech line, on-line ordering, usually free shipping, great on time for shipping, send you a free catalog if you want of over 1000 pages of goodies for us lovers of the wind....good luck in your decision

I asked myself what level of use I plan to get out of a rain suit. The answer was "never" if I could get away with it. However, we all have been caught away from home with bad weather approaching.

Since I don't plan to use my suit very much I elected to go with a suit which packs small enough to always be in my sadddlebag and as a bonus is cheaper. The Frogg Toggs suit meets this requirement well. I'm sure it is more durable than I give it credit for, but the material is really thin and I don't think it would hold up to repeated heavy use like some of the beefier HD suits. To its credit I have used my FT suit six or seven times and it is still in a "like new" condition. More importantly it has kept me dry.

Bottom line: The Frogg Toggs suit works great for my needs, but if I are planning to use a rain suit often I would spend a few more $$$ and opt for one of the HD suits.

My .02 cents worth.....

I spent the extra dough and bought the Gore Tex stuff, well worth it. I got mine from Bass Pro Shops, Redhead brand. The top was 99 and the bottoms were 79. Again well worth the money... and fold up very small.

I asked myself " what if " and i purchased the HD gore tex. The best $100. i ever spent. Just got back from the New England states after touring the mountains for 5 days through rain, wind and everything else mother nature could throw at us. The suit was awsome. Buy it like insurance, get the most coverage hoping you won't need it.

Edmo,

What version of Frogg Toggs did you get? They seem have several.

I'm using the HD black rainsuit. It usually holds up good and doubles as a nice windbreaker on mild days. However, after a long day in a downpour, I was soaked. My boss handed me a copy of the latest "enthusiast" magazine and it had an article on the HD suits. Seems like I got the level 1 (lowest protection) suit. Maybe I expected more out of it. Looks like I'll get a level 3 next. I agree with what others are saying - you get what you pay for.
