Default Steering Head Adjustment

Checked my steering head adjustment as per the service manual. I do not get the 3 turns that the manual calls for. Mine goes full right then back to center and settles there. According to the manual it should go full right, then left, then back to center area. Is this something that I need to correct, or is it close enough??

Default RE: Steering Head Adjustment

That sounds like the front is still assembled together......

That is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too tight (Providing that you did all that the manual calls for [Front tire slightly off ground with bike level, Outer Fairing, Clutch cable, Stereo removed)]..... Batwing Fairing I presume....

If that is the case, and it is in fact that tight, loosen the lower pinch bolts, loosen the stem nut (Make sure that you have a NEW Lock Tab at reassy), and take about 3-5 notches out of the starwheel adjustment......

Retorque Stem nut to spec... That will get you alot closer to your 3 swings (I like 2 3/4 - 3)...

Lube it up then also....
