I have an 8" Clearview and a 9" LRS, and both are the same thickness. LDS's claim of being 15% thicker applies to HD windshields. My Clearview is more optically correct at the recurve than the LRS, but since I look over the windshield this isn't a problem. I do wish LRS would make a smoked version, as this dark gray looks out-of-place with my smoked Freedom Wings. I only use the LRS on trips, as the Clearview is a bit too short when I use the backrest, so the color tint isn't a big deal. I would've bought a Clearview but it the next size up is 9½", which would be a bit too tall for me. I use the Clearview 99% of the time.

I have the 13" (8.5 inch vertical) Cee Bailey SSC windshield. See pic below. Great shield. I had a 6.5 Klockwerks, but didn't like the buffeting I got from it and sold it.

Just got one from site sponsor LRS yesterday in light grey. Took 3 days to get it and so far I love it. Only have about 80 miles on it so far so time will tell. Total cost after hdforums member discount was $78.49. I spent 30 mins on the phone with them asking all kinds of questions to make sure I would like it. Great service and fast shipping.

I need to add that I bought the 8" Ultra model. I'm 6' and have a 34" inseam and a stock pillow seat on my UC. That may give you an idea of my torso length as well. I wanted to see over the shield as I work nights and ride to work. The air hits the top of what's left of my hair pretty much the same as the stock shield that was on the bike when I got it. Your torso length and seat may help you decide how tall to go if you're wanting to look through it or over it. Also take into consideration if you have the windshield bags you'll want a little taller shield.

I just installed a 9" ultra flip from Long Ride Shields that I purchased as a blem "I couldn't see anything wrong with it" got a great deal on it and removed my 11.5" windshield for this. I can't really tell any difference of where the wind is hitting me so I am assuming the flip is making up the 1.5" difference from the old windshield. The Ultra looks great and is a little thicker so it doesn't wobble around at an idle like the H-D one did.

I have a 6" LRS Ultra Flip Dark Grey on my SG. Love the shield over the 4" stocker. I do think I should have gone 7" though. The wind-stream is hitting the very top of my helmet while I think a 7" would have pushed it just over. Still love it though...
