Default LRS Windshield Story

Started a couple weeks ago when I realized that my stock shield on my 08 Ultra was just too high. My no-brother-good-in-law, from Illinois says "hey I got a 6 inch smoke that I tried on my Streetglide before I went to my KW you can try". Well this is just a plain shield. Looks cool and I like it, but the wife says no way, there really is no wind protection for her. She is precious cargo and I live by "HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE. So I found a few people on here saying good and some saying bad. I am all about helping out the new guy doing something in own shop in AMERICA and trying his best. So i sent a PM asking a few questions and I got a response in about 5 minutes. Great start. Couple days later I had 1 more question, again sent PM and had an answer within minutes. On July 2nd in the afternoon I decided I better get this thing ordered if I want it by the 8 when we are going on a long weekend ride to Door County WI. I got it in the mail yesterday the 6th. Pretty impresive because it was a holiday weekend. They use USPS priority and I recieved email on payment and on tracking my shipment. At this point I am pumped because it says my LRS will be here on the 6th. I open the package and think, wow that is really sharp looking, but maybe instead of going 8 inch, I should have bought the 9 or 10? Following rules, I installed it without removing the protective cover and go for a ride. THIS THING IS FRIGGIN' AWESOME!!! I had to sit up and almost stand to get wind bad enough to shake my glasses (regular RX, not riding glasses) and I was going 60 and the tunes were easier to hear and I just know my wife is going to love it. I am very happy with their customer service, their willingness to help and answer questions, the speed of shipment and the product itself!!! I have not looked to see if the 5% HDF discount has been refunded to my card or not, but at this point everything has gone great. One other thing, mine is the ultra flip up and I do use the HD 3 bag set up and it works fine with that too. Hats off to LRS and thanks to them for sponsoring HDF too. I don't work for LRS or anything like that. I am just proud of what they did for me and hope that things go as smoothly for others as it did for me.
Enjoy the ride
KRIS...

I also installed the ultra flip this year. Less wind
around my head and can hear the radio better.

The only thing I did not like about my LRS experience was that it took 10 days to get to Ohio but not really LRS's fault.

I had the same shield as you and loved the performance but not the look after having a 6.5 KW.
Sadly, I went and sold it. After trying a 10" LRS extreme back to back with my KW, I'm going to order another 8" Ultra or may even go with a 7" Ultra since the wind protection they offer far out weighs the looks IMO. I'm 6'-2" 34" inseam.

Not that the Ultra does not look good, just not as good as a shorter shield IMO.

Just the standard 9 " regular recurve w/a little flip works great too.

Sounds like an advertizement for LRS. Hard to believe they have overcome all of the problems they had a few months ago. I've been thinking about a 8"

Can't complain here, I got one of the bad shields when they first introduced the Xtreme and sent them an email and some pics of it and had a new shield to replace it the following week. They made good on it and no questions ask. Got my vote.

Ordered mine on a Tuesday and got it Thursday. Ordered the 9' Ultra Flip and thought it was too short when I first saw. Put it on the bike and it works great. 5'7" and it pushes the wind over my head by a good two inches.

I was a tester for the X Stream and yes they asked for testers while they were in development and getting things right. Why don't you accept that, do you have a problem w LRS? This guy is reporting on what he found and likes to help others. I received replacement shields for the ones that needed refinement with no problems. I love the stability with the X-Stream, I'm 5'9, use Danny Grey solo seat and 8" X-Stream. With the stock seat I probable could use a 9" but the 8" works. I haven't tested it w the OL on the back yet.

I had some issues with LRS - I stated them in other threads, never bashing however. Matt kept his word and sent me out a 6" Ultra Flip a few days ago - So far it has been the best shield I have ever used as far as the wind for me.( I have used MANY including KW, X-Stream , etc) I'm 6-1 with an 06 SG ..Mustang daytripper seat that lowers and brings me back with 12.5 apes. I took it for a "test" ride Saturday.. up to 100mph and I was happy. All I am getting is clean air & I watched a few bugs fly OVER my head instead of smacking me on it. I wish the dark tint was more grey , it is more of a smokey brownish color. At least I know what kind of shield works the best for ME..Now I need to find one in black or an actual dark grey. Take care all.
