Just purchased a 2009 street glide from my local dealer. The warranty is only good for one more month. The bike sounds great with the rinehart slip on exhaust but I have noticed a knock and about 2500 rpms. sounds like it is coming from the rocker cover. maybe its nothing but my last bike 07 fatboy made a lot of noise like ticking but no knocking. Dealer said its nothing not to worry. Is this normal?????
Well all I can say is if it is under warranty USE it, I just got my bike 4 weeks ago, I bought extended , and it is in the shop right now.....think the oil pump went.
At 31,000 miles, the engine on my 2008 Street Glide is very busy, but there is no knock. A knock is not normal, nor is it good. Take that bike back to the dealer for warranty work.

I developed a "knock" in my '08 FLHR, primarily at startup. Was told by many on here that it may be a lifter bleeding down while the bike was parked. Others suggested that a small object (such as lint from the oil filter) might have lodged in a lifter. Long story short, brought the bike home on a long 75 mph+ trip and whatever ailed her apparently went away.
On very slight acceleration, I also get a "knock." My bike isn't near as quiet as four of my buddies' bikes, but I've got to the point that it's an air-cooled engine and she's gonna make some noises. 25k and counting, doesn't seem to be getting worse. I'm gonna keep riding it till she blows.
