Disconnect the plug under the seat that goes to the rear fender and try a new fuse again at least you can rule out the complete rear section. If you did any work on the handle bar controls it could be a pinched wire there.
My 2010 street glide fell over and now it wont start, even after I did the reset thing,so I checked all the fuses and relays and found the ignition fuse blown,I replaced it and when I turned the ignition switch to on it blows the fuse?? any help would really be appreciated..
Blown fuse. No horn, cruise, turn signals or ABS. Finally found the short in the Faring. Harley routes one of electrical harnesses around the radio. Vibrations against the radio eventually wore though the insulation and shorted the horn to ground. Thanks Harley. Great engineering.
Okay sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you guys, so I have replaced the actual switches, I had the break switch replaced the clutch switch replaced and all wires checked and haven't been able to even get the light on the tach to turn on yet. I have also checked fuses and nothing is blown. So I am at a loss for ideas and what to do next. It's been a process but a very confusing and complicated one. All the other switches on the right side including the turn signal radio control start and ignition all work so I really don't know what to do! Anyone else got a by ideas? I had our local Harley call Harley themselves and they can't really come up with anything either without seeing the bike.
It was a chewed up rear light harness, under the fender.
Don't know why the bike would be built in such a way that it is possible to hit the harness with the rear tire when the load is too heavy, or the air pressure is too low, but that was the problem.
I've seen that more than a couple of times. I found the last one on a buddy's bike by tracing the wire (which was hot at the time) with my fingers! You'd think they'd re-route the harness or at least protect it enough to not let the tire get to it. Glad you got it figured out.
BTW, Blowing Fuses reminds me - a while back I asked my GF if she blew Bubbles when she was younger. To which she replied, Yes of course. I said, that's what I thought, because he's back in town and wants your new phone number!
