Has anyone here gotten to the point of thinking 'too much' and de-blinged or un accessorized their ride? Not necessarily my case, but my ride didn't turn out the way I'd hope it would, and I'm giving it a make over.
i did that on my 98 road king. i had about anything that could go on it,on the bike. one day i just decided to take a different direction. starting pulling peices off slowly. chrome actually stands out better when it has some black or whatever to offset it.
my newly acquired 2006 rk was the same way. previous owner had it skulled out and it really just didnt go with the bike. slowly but surely all of ths skulls are off it now replaced with stuff i like better. it was just too much. its all about the right balance i think.
my 07 road king classic got de-blinged as soon
as i got it from the factory starting with the
windsheld and ending with a bunch of crap that
i did not like
Yep, been there for sure. Used to have loads of lights and things on my Ultra, then one day I thought it started looking like a clown car. Realized it suddenly, I should say...
Anyway, now it's real clean and I even run a solo seat with no Tour-Pak when I'm riding alone. Less can definitely be more.

A friend bought a cream puff low mile '96 Heritage that had the "Live to Ride" stuff everywhere. If it existed this guy had it. It looked ridiculous. My friend returned the bike to near stock and sold everything on ebay including bags, rear seat etc. Now bike is bare bones (black and chrome) and looks awsome.
I've never been too big on adding a lot of bling to any of my bikes.
I look at some bikes and it reminds me NOT to buy bling.
My thoughts exactly. Some people hang everthing but the kitchen sink on the poor things. Reminds me of a geezerwing at work with the most ugly fog lights hanging on big tubes that must create enough drag to slow down the top end 10mph. A good rule is KISS. (keep it simple)
I'm currently rebuilding my friend's '04 Road King. It was gloss black with lots of chrome. It'll be finished next week and the only shiny bits will be the rocker covers, cam carriers and pushrod tubes. Everything else is black, black or black. I guess he got tired of the bling too, lol.
