Hi,
I want to upgrade my speedo with one of the speedo/tach offerings. The trouble lies in the looks of the Road King Classic. Since its a retro design would this speedo/tach conflict with the theme of the bike or do you think it would compliment the bike?
Here is a pic,
Then there is this one which appears to be easier to read and cheaper but may really conflict with the classic styling with the digital speedo.
Any thoughts? If anyone has any pictures at night of these two I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to lose any of the idiot lights or the 6th gear light.
I've got the second one on my RK. I chose it primarily because the tach is large and easy to read compared to the other speedo/tach combos, but also because it's $200 cheaper than them. It maintains all the functions of the original unit. And the speedometer is 100% accurate according to my GPS.
As far as looks go, I like it and don't think it detracts from my RK. But everyone's got their own taste.
The only downside imo is the backlighting is fairly bright and at my 5'7" height I get some reflection off the windshield. I solved that by adding the Kuryakyn bezel. Sorry I don't have a better pic handy but here you go.
