Default Horn question

So a little while back my horn quite working and I have been doing some research on it. It could be the horn is bad but it looks like there is a chance that there is a bad relay as I am not getting 12 volts when I press the switch with my volt meter attached. So I gotta work through that but in the course of it I am looking at replacing the pathetic POS stock horn with one that will get everyones attention when I hit the button. I have seen several mentioned when I did searches in the forum about it and there are several issues with locations and what not to be able to mount better horns. Also I see that some of them are quite expensive too. I did find one that I am wondering if anyone has it or knows anything about it at

http://www.pbmissions.com/p17-Dual-T.../ATV-Horn.html

I would also like to know what other options are out there that are reasonably priced?

As bike horns go HD are among the loudest, but you could always go to a FIAMM 72112 Freeway Blaster horn for less than 20 bucks.

I tried that but with a sealed switch it really doesn't matter and so I took my brothers horn off his bike and hooked it up to mine and it works fine so it's the horn. I'm going to get a Mini Beast today. I got to hear it yesterday when I was at the dealer getting some other parts and it gave me a woody so I had to go see if I had enough to get it and I do so it will be mine soon

Mini Beast is a good choice, very loud and comes in a small package. I like the Howards Horns Duals, Gives my scoot the older look that I like.

I got the Mini Beast 2 and it's all hooked up and all I can say is that's loud. I like that it goes right on the stock mount ready to go. I can do all the other mod work but really didn't have the time to do it right now so this is an acceptable way to go for me. I like the looks too!

BiggestDawg, that one looks like a Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn. I'm looking into getting that one and doing the install with the stock horn cover. I have seen some cool covers from http://www.metalartsinc.com/horn%20covers.htm , but I'm not paying for fancy right now.

Let us know what you get and how it works for you.

Read one post up I got the Mini Beast 2. I was not going to but my wife wanted me to have something that was going to add to my safety and in her opinion it's worth the cost. Normally I would go the route of doing the Stebel, in fact I had purchased it. But I'm leaving on a ride tomorrow for Redding and didn't have time to ditz with it. Plus I like the fact that the mini goes where the stock went and it was really easy to install.

I bought the Stebel compact air horn and the wiring kit from Amazon and installed it yesterday. I took off the HD horn removed the horn from the housing and drilled out one of the mounting holes to 5/16. The right size for the bolt that came with the Stebel horn. I also put the drill in reverse and drilled out the flexible wire clip and put that on the new setup. If you do not put the drill in reverse you will end up with a twisted mess. I pulled the original wires from the horn into the cavity under the tank and pulled them under the seat. I wired the relay and the wiring harness (10 minutes worth of work). The relay lays next to the wires going under the tank just fine. I then pulled the new (red) horn wire through the same cavity as the old wires and hooked it up to the new horn. Then made a new ground wire and attached it to the motor mount under the tank. All in all an easy install. Drilling the old bracket out to 5/16 is much easier than making a new bracket.
