My dealer won't even allow me to pay the difference; if I want the SE, I have to pay 100% of the parts and labor and my feeling at this point is that the dealer isn't even receptive to that.[/QUOTE]

If my dealer said this to me I'd find another dealer!

What tuner did you use? I see V&H front to back...

I asked Jamie about it and he sent me a new map. It did not really help with this "rattle at 3K rpms". It sounds like a marble in my primary when cruising at 63-65 in 5th and just rolling a little to go up a hill. No matter what gear I am in, constant speed @3K roll on throttle slightly and inconsistent rattle sound. Driving me nuts when I wear a half helmet. I pulled a little timing and added fuel in the area that I get the problem, it does not go away. So I went back to Jamies original map for my setup.

I guess I will order some exhaust gaskets/clamps, go back stock or pull my primary cover to take a look see this weekend. Maybe I have an exhaust leak in #1 exhaust port, even though I have not been able to find one.

All of this begs a question (s), what problem was HD trying to compensate for by going with this compensator system? The stock and highly modified TCs prior to 07 do not use this, another reason to keep my 01. If starting the engine causes this compensator to wrap up, bottom out and clunk, could this also happen on each combustion cycle, especially if the engine has performance mods? It seems like going to compensator, especially th heavier built SE compensator would add more flywheel type weight, is that detrimental to ecceleration performance? Maybe I'm under or over thinking all this.

All I know is that I got the SE compensator on my 07 Roadking today and wow what a difference. The bike starts easier and shifts so much smoother. It just seems more refined like I just upgraded to a newer bike. I am very pleased I did the swap. The OEM compensator looks puny compared to the SE one.

I'm just jumping in here so that I can see all replies to this thread.
My 09 with 12,000 miles isn't as noisy as some reported here but definately worth monitoring.
I already tried for the compensator replacement at my 10k service with no luck although they did document my complaint.
Anyway, hopefully I get get the upgraded compensator done soon before something breaks.

My issue was ping, not compensator. I called FM and talked to Kieth, he suggested I start bumping my fuel %'s up in the range I have the issue and it got better, to the point of gone. Now all I hear is the valve train as I would expect.

Edit: Well after my ride in to work today, this is not the case. Still makes the noise @3000 rpms. Annoying as **** with a half helmet on. Will try a little more fuel, but at this point have to think it's something else... "normal". If I stay out of 3K either below it or above it, it's a non-issue. But 62-65 mph in 5th is right at that rpm range.

Is this the correct SE compensator kit for an '09 Ultra Classic and what other parts are required to make this change?

M&Ms quoted me $217 for the compensator. Not sure what your shipping costs would be.
