I have not taken mine to the dealer yet. Listen to how my 2009 egc with 10,000 miles sounds.
This was on hot start. If you noticed, the second start was a little better.
What do you all think?
I didnt read every page of this thread but what is the cost to upgrade if your out of waranty? n I know the part is 250 but how much for labor? Does anyone know. I only have 15 days left on my waranty (09 RKC) and dont see a failure happening by then..;-)

2010 SG. It does clunk/jump little when putting into gear but not the grinding noise or hard startup. However, I am little concerned that it will go bad at the wrong time.
Should I just go ahead and do the SE Comp upgrade? I know I will have to pay full price as I do not think I have the symptoms yet. Coming from one who is Not mechanically inclined, I am little worried.
The original compensator went out on my 07 Ultra at 25,000 miles. It was wore out. Banged like crazy. Almost to the point as being like the clutch was slipping.
Starter would let go while cranking at times.
Put in the SE compensator, been 16,000 miles now and all I can say is it should have came this way. Big difference.
Regardless of the cost it was worth every penny to me.

probably varies widely - I reckon a good wrench can do this in 2 hours the right way. You also have to figure in the cost of other parts. If you do it by the book (all prices msrp):
SE Comp 40274-08 is $250
You should replace 3 gaskets and the tranny oil seal.
primary cover gasket (34901-07) $35.15.
The Inner primary gasket (34934-06) $14
oil seal (12052A) $4.65
service kit for derby cover and oil plug o-ring (17369-06) $4.95.
Note too:
The book also says to replace the inner primary bolts but apparently no one ever does.
Of course your prices on these parts may be a little higher - dealers love to add 50 cents here and there to these type of parts
Then there's the oil.
