Default Decibel Ratings?

Can someone point me in the direction where I might be able to find decibel ratings?

Looking for what db Monster Ovals are putting out with various head pipes

Thanks

Try emailing V&H, they might have some numbers from testing they did.

I agree with hitting up Vance and Hines directly. They also have monster rounds out now. They sound the same but give you more ground clearance and are a little lighter. I switched over to them from the ovals.

Both cans will be pretty quiet when new. After you get a couple thousand miles on them they you burn out a little bit of the packing and they get a little louder. Right out of the box they are pretty tame which is what I wanted on my bike. They both are very deep boomy bass sounding.

I sent an email to Vance and Hines and to my surprise I got an almost immediate answer!

This is what they said:

That is exactly correct, Monster Ovals and Monster Rounds have the same internal baffle design which sound exactly the same and perform the same. DB rating is 90-92 DB. They have a very deep and throaty sound, however they are not piercing to the ear.

I asked about db rating with Power or Dresser Duals. These are the numbers I was looking for to stay below 95 db in case I do some riding in Maine

Hope this info helps anyone else who may have been wondering

If you want to compare decibal ratings with different mufflers, Jamie at Fuelmoto posted them awhile back.

You have to make sure all the testing is done exactly the same.............same distance, same angle, same RPM's, same environment around the bike, and same DB meter.

I just installed the Klock Werks Super Saver's on my 09Ultra with dresser duals and the sound is great. Pulled V&H ovals because they were too loud for my taste with the true duals. Best thing is you can get a set for around 3 bills on ebay. They are a 4 inch with rolled ends and you can get them long or short with choice of 3 ends. Not a real loud pipe at cruse but have a deep agressive sound on throttle up. You can go to their web site for a sound bite, they're a sponsor.
