But before all that he is going to get road time on 4 wheels and learn what the road is all about.

Who knows maybe this kid has proven himself to your friend and that is why your friend has him coming along. I would at least talk to him about.

I have ridden with guys in there 20's 30's and 40's that did not have a license and have friends that are in their 40's that ride like a-holes that I would not go on a 500 mile ride with either....

You are not wrong or being a douchebag if you are not comfortable with it.
Bingo! Finally, somebody willing to concur that maybe the parents know what they are doing! Most everyone else trying to tell a stranger how to raise his own kid.

How 'bout 16 year olds that sail around the world. Think maybe the parents have confidence in them after teaching them and observing their behavior? Maybe?

EDIT: There are a lot of reasons that I would not ride along on that trip.
But I dang sure wouldn't feel right about lecturing him on how to raise his kid.

I'd go on the ride. Sounds callous, but it's not my kid. It's natural selection. Weed out the weak and stupid so the strong and smart can flourish.

His inexperience causes a situation and you end up unable to ride for the rest of your life........now are you still going to chance the ride?

NO motorcycle license or Insurance - I don't care what your age is - IF I know about this, I don't want you in front, behind or next to me.

Parents are asking to get the hell sued out of them when an accident happens and it is shown the the parents allowed all this.

I know a lot of self-professed "experienced" riders(With the license) that I wouldn't share a lane with.
At least this kid will have his daddy to keep an eye on him. His teacher, his mentor.

I wouldn't go with, but for other reasons.

I see no problem. I've got friends I don't ride with because all they want to do is get drunk and keep riding. That's their decision, mine is to go a different direction.

remember, one of the main points here is... The parent is allowing the kid to ride with out Lic/insurance

assuming the OP is correct.

This is the biggest problem

for those that see NO problem..

Would you allow you kid to ride a Motorcycle with out ins or lic??

It is a shame you are doing the right thing, but you are the one feeling bad.

Good Call, Would not want any part of the situation.

Not sure about the insurance part. I think some of the posters just added that in to beef up their argument.

The license thing might become a problem if they get pulled over.
Also, it ain't teaching the kid about following rules.

But he is getting good experience that will help him when he does test for the license.

No, I wouldn't do it with my own kid.
Ain't my place to tell him how to raise his kid.
