flairing loose

Default flairing loose
i have a 09 u/c i was putting a radio in it and saw that a brace that holds the right side on by the mirror was broken. i then found a small piece of metal which looked like a horseshoe laying under the bike. this when to the bracket that hold the flairing on, both main brackets are broken off. i also saw that were the mount was to be bolted to the flaring the screws were missing or never put in. cut some metal bolted to the main bracket to hold the flairing until i can get it back to the dealer. has this happen to anyone else i dont know how 3 brackets could be broken but did find out why was having trouble seeing the gauges!

Take it to the dealer and let them replace...each black bracket is about $50 AND THE SMALL SILVER BRACKET IS $12 ABOUT...i fixed mine myself but i have a $50 deductible. The attached picture isn't my fix but it's similar to it. the newer brackets are apparently tougher.

typical problem with brackets!!,hd has a slightly beefed up bracket now,should be under warranty? i replaced mine twice,2nd time with something else

Are they still using the old weaker brackets in '09s?

I have been using the home depot fix like in the second post for years. It hold up better then the original bracket.

I just bought a 06 classic and found 3 of the fairng bolt missing. Is this a problem or do you think somone didnt re install them.

I haven't had a problem with bolts missing...i take my fairing off fairly frequently though...
