J and S here, my buddy has the red craftsman, there is a big difference in price, and performance. Im very comfortable putting my bike up on the J & S...dont think id say the same for the craftsman.
Here's one with my springer. Rear tire off and no straps. I replaced all the sheet metal and added the apes without any tie downs. It's kind of ironic that the pitbull lift can be seen sitting behind my j&s. Guess it is obvious which one I use.
J&S also. Was going to go cheap thinking I would not use often but talked myself into $ for J&S. Would do it again. Use it to clean the laced wheels and misc maintenance almost weekly. Fantastic, and no straps either. But has the loops should I feel the need. Watch the video, you'll see.
What don't you guys like about the Craftsman. This is my first bike lift and cost was a big factor. I use it at least once a week with no problems. The first couple of times I strapped the bike, now to tell you the truth, I don't even know where the straps are. Are the other models J&S, Pitbull, etc. just heavier duty?
Dooz, the J & S is not just more heavy duty but much more stable, I've had the Sears, Harbor Freight and 1 other and ended up giving them all away, if you are lifting your bike to clean it or do simple things they are ok, but with the cheaper jacks every time I'd remove my front tire I'd have to brace the rear end to keep it from tipping, I've done major work on the bike with the J&S , had the bike on it for months rolled it around all over the garage while doing it without and issue, you have to use one to understand the difference

Think I'll have to stop in at J&S next time I'm up in Green Bay area. I've got an old Larin lift I tried to use which was scary. Put it under the bike on the left (kickstand) side and when I lifted it the bike almost rolled off the other side. Tried several times different placements with same results. Maybe the lifting arms aren't quite long enough.

I can see removing significant weight from one end of the bike would cause the Craftsman to be tippy. I have only used it for cleaning, minor mods, etc. Thanks for the info
I have two of them, put my old Sears jacks in the trash after almost tipping over a couple of times with it only 6" in the air. Can put my Ultra and Goldwing all the way up and roll around my garage, stable as a rock !!
