Every time I go to use MapSource to create a route to load into my GPS I want to throw the f** computer out the window. MapSource has to be some of the biggest dog chit software I've ever seen. It looks like something from 1985!! It can't find addresses, it's a nightmare to click and drag to change your route on the map. Ahhh....POS!! I tried using MS Streets & Trips but it doesn't interface well when sending the gpx file to the GPS. It winds up being half what was in S&T and half what the GPS decided to add.

If you are using a garmin gps unit you might try mapquest and send gpx route file direct to your GPS. Depends on what garmin unit you are using. If it is the 550 or 650 Zumo garmin try HD ride planner if you haven't already.
I like the prom clips for the new Samsung pad...the pad GPS interfaces with Google world maps and u can see ur position in the actual SAT photos, not just the graphic drawn maps...
Have you tried Tyre its a free download which works very well with Google maps, its compatible with Tom Tom and Garmin I use it with my Nuvi 500, it does allow you to plot your own routes with out it creating its best guess on which way you should go. http://www.tyre.tk.
I used it a few times and made it worked, usually a buddy o mine sends me the map if we are going to the mountains together.,..it isn't that user friendly, you're right.
