When I first got my 08 I thought I screwed up not getting the ABS option. There were several times I got in trouble with the back end trying to get in front of the front end.
Then I put an E3 on the rear and Have been happy ever since. Never have a problem with it like I did the 402.
x2
I know after putting on the e3 it saved me twice from a t bone accident.. The 402 would break loose under a lot less extreme braking that the e3..
And if your under 10k on an e3 maybe air pressure checks more often.. I have 5k on mine now looks like new.
And the E3 is Made in America.. Not Brazil or China.. Where Metzler and Avon have most of the tires you get now made.. You have to make sure and ask if you want the better German made ones..
I am going to get about 10,000 miles out of the E3 MU85B-16 I put on the rear of my 2007 Ultra. I am going to try an Avon or Metzler next. Have had good service out of both in the past. Dunlop has got enough of my money for a while.
Just curious...where did you find a MU85B-16 tire in the E3? I looked everywhere
well, unfortunately, i can't take a pic for you but when i traded my 07 in for my 10, i had 19,000 miles on a set of e3s. the rear was nowhere near needing to be replaced, and the front looked almost new.
awesome tires. will be putting them on this bike when needed.
No pic needed, I just meant I have never seen another tire other than the E3 last like they do.
I did the E3's and Dyna Beads last year before riding to Daytona for Bike Week and feel in love with them. They do not try to track the imperfections in the road such as a draw bridge or a crack in the road. Now it is a straight line drive. You will not regret this purchase.
Of course, whether 12k is good or bad.... would depend on how many miles you got with other tires.
Many people report 8k from D-402's... so 12k, would be a nice improvement
To the OP
per Dunlop's site
front tire MT90B16 72H BW 4079-90 3.00 25.00 5.24 6/32 770 @ 40PSI
rear tire MU90B16 78H BW 4079-95 3.00 25.72 5.57 11/32 930 @ 40PSI
I run tires close to the max pressure as noted on the sidewall. Certainly within 10%, as that will keep the tire cooler, and lasting longer.
Lower pressures MAY give a softer ride... but the softer the pressure, the greater the tire flex. the more a tire flexes, the more heat they generate. The more heat a tire generates, the faster it wears out... or worse.
Just what I've learned from listening to folks in the know.... stand by for the rebutal commentaries

Try Jake Wilson or Dennis Kirk. I am about to order a rear tire from Jake Wilson. Good price and free shipping. Also Dunlop uses the MU85B-16 designation. Metz and Avon use 140/90-16 designation. It is the same size either way.

I got mine from Jake Wilson...$199.98 delivered for the set. There was no MU85 listed in the Bias Ply and there isn't one on Dunlop's site under E3's so I used the MU90B-16
