I agree with going the UC route... You have "everything" included -- then you can remove and revise the bike depending on your needs (touring, around town, one-up, two-up, etc...). It just seems like it is ready for modifications and more versatile -- especially if you are looking to do the open road thing on a regular basis. When I went to the UC from my Heritage, I thought I would immediately add the quick-release tour pack and go packless around town. But with the increased time on the open road and riding two-up (and needing the extra room for my wife's "things") I find that it is just as easy to leave it on and enjoy the bike "as is." But the lowers come off and stay off most of the year here along the Gulf Coast -- except for the extended highway trips or the annual pilgrimage to the mountains....
I keep looking at the black Classic, would ditch the white walls and send some of the chrome to the powder coaters across the street.
I'm only 40, do I qualify to ride a geezer bike?
Good picture, is that a chopped trunk?

OH NO! I am only 36 and got the EG Standard after trading in the WideGlide, maybe I am ahead of the game.

Go for the UC -- you'll never "what if" again!
That's what I'm thinking.
What does the Ultra Classic have that the Classic does not have besides faring lowers, and the extra speakers?

I'm 28.... I have a totally geezered out street glide w/vented lowers and king tour pack.. I'm even going to put rear speakers and cb on eventually......
I was at Eatern Performance in Maryland and the shop manager showed me the owners street glide and it was the sweetest street glide i have ever seen (tour pack, lowers, led rearbrake/turn combo, black levers, black front crashbars, etc...... ItS ONE SWEET RIDE
I throw a Kuryakyn Grantour bag on the luggage rack. Quick, versatile system. Drop the bag and you are still set for 2-up, drop the sissy bar and good to go solo. Bag can also be installed on the passenger seat for a solo trip.
Things that drew me to the Street Glide
[ul][*]Monochrome look [*] Lack of chrome accents all over the place[*] Lower stance[*] Rear fender ground effects, light and saddle bag fillers[*] Bullet turn signals front and rear[*] Relocated license plate[*] Lack of rear crash bars[*] White face guages[*] Fairing mount mirrors[*] Custom floor boards, pegs and brake pedal[*] My color choices
[/ul]
Things I do not like about the Classic
[ul][*] Chrome rails and accents all over the bags and fenders[*] Passing lamps (not sure if I want them)[*] Pinstriping[*] Flat style turn signals[*] Big puffy seat[*] Permanent tour pack[*] White wall tires[*] Rear crash bars[*] Sits higher
[/ul]
Yeah I could have taken all of the stuff off of the Classic that I did not want. But then I would have a bunch of extra parts laying around and fenders and bags with holes in them. The only thing I need to do to make my Street Glide is add a Tour Pak. And I am not even sure if I am going to. Might still go with my original plan of the Kuryakyn Full Dresser bag.
You need to make your own choice. This was my opinion and my choice and not meant to sway you in either direction. Good luck in your decision.
